Why Join?

N.E.C.A., the National Electrical Contractors Association, is a trade association established to represent, promote, and advance the interests of the electrical contracting industry.

On both national and local levels, N.E.C.A. represents the electrical contracting community to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, to legislators, to the construction industry in general, and to the public at large. Education of the members is a key component on N.E.C.A.'s philosophy, and seminars and conferences are a mainstay of the association.

Regular membership meetings are help on national, regional and local levels, which serve to keep the members informed, and afford them the opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest and concern. As a N.E.C.A. member, a contractor has forums to voice his ideas and concerns, regardless of the size of his operation.

As an electrical contractor, N.E.C.A. is your representative, your voice, and your source of information to keep you up to date on developments in the industry, but beyond that, it is your chance to have an active say in shaping the future of the electrical contracting industry.

Testimonials

NECA is a chance for representation in the industry. The chapter makes sure that every contractor, no matter what their size, has a voice in Local Union llO'sjurisdiction. They keep the contractor well informed of industry guideline changes, and new cost-effective practices.

I have been a member of the Minneapolis Chapter ofNECA since May of 1994. Before joining, I had the impression that NECA was an organization for larger contractors. I was mistaken. It's an organization for every size shop. I have benefited from networking with the other members, and the meetings have taught me more about the industry than I
could have ever imagined. The conventions have been a wealth of solid information, and the socializing has been a lot of fun. I have been on the board of directors for the last two years, and I am on the apprenticeship committee. Belonging to NECA has definitely improved my business a great deal.

For as long as I can remember, if I had a unique question of the utmost importance, St. Paul NECA was able to answer my question in a timely fashion. Over the years, St. Paul NECA has responded appropriately to questions I have had ranging from tax issues to potential union labor problems. St. Paul NECA seems to always have direct answers to ambiguous questions. It is nice to know I can get help when I need it. In addition to the assurance of the help I receive, I have noticed from time to time that customers prefer NECA contractors. Being a NECA contractor, on occasion, has given Supreme Electric Company credibility with first-time customers.

Len Reinhardt, owner of Supreme Electric Company, St. Paul

When I decided to start my own electrical contracting business, my first call was to NECA. Although I had been in the industry for twenty-five years, opening my own firm presented different challenges than working for one. Rich Wynne was particularly helpful, even
recommending an insurance agent who works with other electrical contractors. He answered all my questions, and gave me some great ideas. I particularly enjoy the monthly membership meetings. Even though I'm a small firm, I feel welcomed and enjoy the friendship extended by other members. It's interesting to talk with other contractors and learn that many of our problems are the same, regardless of our size or how long we've been in business.
